IIPKL: Pune overcomes Delhi, 37-36 in a battle of the zone toppers
Mysore, May 29th 2019: In a face-off between the two top notches of the league, Pune Pride proved to have an upper hand, defeating Diler Delhi by 37-36 on the last day of the Mysore leg. This was the most awaited match of the league as both teams are leading their respective zones. Pune dominated the first quarter by scoring 16 points against Delhi’s 5 points. Know for their come back, Delhi scored 8 points in the second quarter against Pune’s 4 points bringing the half time score to 20-13 with Pune having a lead of 7 points.
Delhi continued their domination in the third quarter and scored 14 points against Pune’s 9 point. However, Pune still had a lead of 29-27 over Delhi. The last quarter was hard fought by both teams, However Pune managed to defeat Delhi by 37-36 even though Delhi managed to score 9 points against Pune’s 8 points.
Amarjeeth Singh for Pune scored the maximum, 9 raid points whereas for Delhi, Sunil Jaipal scored 9 raid and 1 tackle points. It is important to note that after this win Pune is leading Zone A by winning 8 out of 10 matches played and 16 points in their kitty. Delhi is also leading Zone B with 6 win and 1 draw, out of 9 matches played with 13 points.
