ONGC brings Air Force’s plane to the ground to win the tournament
The 38th All India Men’s Kabaddi Championship was held from January 20 to 23 in Gotegaon, Madhya Pradesh. The ONGC team won the tournament. They defeated the Air Force 38-24.
Earlier, they had beaten Haryana 37-35 in a very close match in the semi-finals. In the second semi-final, the Air Force defeated UP Yodha 33-24 to reach the final. Air Force’s key player Naveen Kumar Goyat was injured in the final. This forced him to leave the field early in the match. ONGC took advantage of Naveen’s absence to bring the Air Force plane to the ground. From ONGC, Mitu scored 13 points and played an important role in the team’s victory.
Naveen Kumar Goyat won the Man of the Series award. ONGC’s Mitu won the Best Raider award while Ankush won the Best Defender award.
It was the first kabaddi tournament to be held at national level after Covid lockdown. Many national and international players like Deepak Hooda, Siddharth Desai, Nitesh Kumar, Abhishek Singh, Amit Hooda, Rinku Narwal, Rajesh Narwal, Joginder Narwal, Baldev Singh participated in this tournament.
