4 Things Which Happened In The PKL 8 For The First Time In League’s History
Vivo Pro Kabaddi League edition eight has been ended. Dabang Delhi K.C. has won the PKL trophy for the first time. This is not only thing which has happened for the first time in league’s history. There are other things also which has been witnessed for the first time in league’s history. Let us take a look at those things:
1) Father-Son Duo Won The PKL Title For Same Team In Same Season
Dabang Delhi K.C. clinched their maiden title. Their skipper & left corner defender Joginder Singh Narwal played a huge role in the win. His son Vinay Kumar was also in Delhi team. 19 years old Vinay was added in Delhi squad as a New Young Player (NYP). Due to many established players in the team Vinay got only 1 match to play in whereas his 39 years old father Joginder played 19 matches. It was for the first time where father son duo i.e. two generations played & won the trophy together.
2) Pardeep Narwal Failed To Finish In Top 3 Position’s Of Raider’s Chart
UP Yoddha raider Pardeep Narwal was the most expensive raider in PKL history. After representing Patna Pirates for five seasons he played for UP Yoddha. He scored 188 Raid Points in 24 matches. 9 Super 10’s & 12 Super Raids are there to his name. Since he joined Patna Pirates he finished in top 3 positions of raider’s chart. He was at the First position in 3rd & 5th season and Second position in 4th, 6th & 7th seasons. But it was for the first time when Pardeep ended up at sixth position. Though his team went into the playoffs performance was not up to the expectations of his fans & team management.
3) Fazel Atrachali Did Not Play In The Playoffs
U Mumba skipper & left corner defender Fazel Atrachali was the only player to play knockout games in every season. He has played playoffs games for U Mumba (Season 2, 3), Patna Pirates (Season 4), Gujarat Giants (Season 5), U Mumba (Season 6, 7). In eighth season U Mumba finished at the 10th position & had to get eliminated from league stage only. Fazel’s record has been broken.
4) Rahul Chaudhari Failed To Cross 80 Raid Points
Rahul Chaudhari was among the few players who got to play in all PKL seasons. Rahul Chaudhari was a part of Telugu Titans from season 1 to season 6. In season 7 he moved to Tamil Thalaivas. He joined Puneri Paltan in season 8. Every season he has crossed 80 Raid Points mark. But his record was broken in this eighth season. Rahul scored 13 Raid Points in 7 matches in PKL 8. There were other players who were doing better than him so Rahul had to warm the bench only. As a result, he did not get enough chances to play his game.
