Devank, Jaideep and Coach Manpreet Unite in Spirit of Kabaddi

Rivalries often define sport, but sometimes, they also create unforgettable bonds.

National, 23rd September 2025: In the PKL 11 Final last year, Haryana Steelers scripted history by winning their maiden title against Patna Pirates. Captain Jaideep Dahiya’s quirky “turning the pages of a book” celebration stole the show, while Coach Manpreet Singh’s trademark moustache pose became the season’s talking point. For Bengal Warriorz star Devank Dalal, however, the memory of that night stayed unfinished.
Fast forward to Season 12 – fate brought the defending champions, Haryana Steelers, face-to-face with a recharged Bengal Warriorz side, now led by their new captain, Devank Dalal. This time, it was Dalal’s night. He inspired the Warriorz to a commanding 54-44 win over the Steelers, avenging last season’s heartbreak. His celebrations said it all; first, a cheeky tear of a page in reply to Dahiya’s book act, and then, a powerful moustache pose in tribute to Coach Manpreet.
In an effort to put the rivalry behind them and highlight the spirit of kabaddi, Coach Manpreet, Captain Jaideep, and Captain Devank were brought together off the mat. What could have been another chapter of banter turned into a moment of mutual respect, as the three shared light-hearted laughs, exchanged memories, and showed fans that kabaddi is bigger than rivalries.
Speaking on the moment, Coach Manpreet Singh said: “Rivalries are important, they push players to give their best. But at the end of the day, kabaddi is a family. Seeing Devank grow as a leader and captain gives me immense happiness. The moustache pose he did – for me, that was respect, not rivalry.”
The rivalry that once set the mat on fire has now transformed into a bond of respect. Captain Jaideep summed it up best: “We’re more than rivals. We’re brothers. We’ve played together for Services; we’re friends off the mat.”
With moustaches raised in style and mutual admiration at the core, PKL 12 has already given fans a story that goes beyond scores – a story of pride, friendship, and the spirit of kabaddi.
