Air India, Central Bank, Dena Bank head to the knock out rounds at the Thane Mayor Kabaddi Championship

Thane: Thane Mayor Kabaddi Championship that began on the 25th February at the Diva Sports Stadium, Diva East. The tournament being organized by Thane Municipal Corporation and Thane District Kabaddi Association witnessed the league matches of the second day of the tournament.

In the women’s division, Dena Bank, WTE Infra, Thane Municipal Corporation, Inrald Infra, Vijayashri Process, Anushka Travels, Yadav Udyog Samuha, MMAS Foundation made it to the knock out stages. Whereas Air India, Union Bank, Dena Bank, Central Bank, Bank of India, Central Railway, Chavan Udyoga Samuha, Sanghvi Developers, New India Insurance, S Academy, Sharada Dairy, Reserve Bank entered the knock out stage in the men’s division. There are still 3 important league matches to be played wherein two are to be played between men and one in the women’s division.

In the Men’s division clash between Air India defeated Noval Dockyard Mumbai 37-24. Air India maintained their lead since the beginning whistle and that led to their victory which sealed their place in the knock outs. In the next game Dena Bank defeated Century Riyan 48-21 in a one sided contest to make it to the knock rounds at the Thane Mayor Kabaddi Championship.

Central Railway defeated Reserve Bank 37-27 to make it to the knock out stage. Sandip Patil from Central Railway performed well and made sure his team emerged victorious. Union Bank thrashed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation 41-10. Brihanmumbai also lost their second game 43-14 to Baramati which closed their doors for the next round.

In the women’s division, WTE Infra defeated Anushka Travels 45-20 in a dominant contest. Sayali Keripale, Snehal Shinde and Sayali Jadhav put forth a splendid performance to make it a one side victory. Thane Municipal Corporation literally thrashed Lakshmi Industries 72-11 to register the highest margin victory in the tournament till date.

Yadav Samuha did not take off to a desired start as they lost on their first match. But on the second day of the tournament they looked in their element and emerged victorious after defeating Lakshmi Industries 46-26 and Sai Security Mumbai 33-26. These wins sealed their spot in the knock out rounds of the tournament.
