College students battle it out in kabaddi C’ship

Vadodara, June 30, 2019: The GFG Yuva Giants Kabaddi Championship, an initiative of Pro Kabaddi League team Gujarat Fortune Giants, saw students from 11 colleges in and around Vadodara flexing their muscles on Saturday. The Championship was introduced last year and received an overwhelming response from educational institutes.

The event witnessed participation from 11 colleges from Vadodara this year. With the perfect balance of strength, agility, and technique, the youngsters put their best foot forward as they held their breath chanting ‘kabaddi, kabaddi’.

At the end of exciting qualifier rounds, C P Patel & F H Shah Commerce College and Parul University have crowned the winners of the Vadodara leg of the event. These teams will now take on two teams each from Ahmedabad, Surat, and Rajkot in the final of the Championship. The final will take place in Ahmedabad

Being held just before the Season 7 of Pro Kabaddi League kicks off on July 20, the Championship is aimed at developing kabaddi culture in the state, taking the indigenous sport to the masses, inspiring youth to take up the sport professionally, and making Gujarat a leading state in sports.

Little Giants, a similar kabaddi championship involving school children, is also being held in the four biggest cities of the state.
