Dabang Delhi’s team Analysis for Pro Kabaddi Season 6

Dabang Delhi is a Pro Kabaddi League franchise owned by Mrs. Radha Kapoor Khanna. In the upcoming season 6 of PKL, the Delhi team is likely to change their tag of ‘perennial underachievers’. After some good buying at the auction and appointment of new coach Krishan Kumar Hooda, Delhi fans can expect some change in their team’s performance at PKL.

Before going into auctions for season 6 Dabang Delhi retained Meraj Sheykh, Tushar Balaram Bhoir, Tapas Pal and Vishal. Naveen Kumar is their FKH player (Future Kabaddi Heroes) the owners were successful in buying PKL star raider Rahul Chaudhari. But Telugu Titans played FBM card and bring back him in their team.

For PKL Season 6 Dabang Delhi squad has a strength of 19 players in which 2 are overseas players.

Here is a full analysis of Dabang Delhi squad :

Raiders

Delhi has 7 raiders in their team. Shabeer Bappu, Chandran Ranjit, Khomsan Thongkham, Pawan Kumar Kadiyan, Yogesh Hooda, Kamal Kishor Jat, and Naveen Kumar are in Delhi’s raiding attack.

Shabeer Bappu who has played for U Mumba and Jaipur Pink Panthers in earlier seasons is brought by Delhi. He is one of the most successful raiders of Pro Kabaddi having 200 points to his name.

With Shabeer Bappu, Pawan Kumar who played for Jaipur Pink Panthers in season 5 is the raider on whom Delhi will be reliable for raiding.

Gujarat Fortunegiants former raider Chandran Ranjit will be seen playing for Dabang Delhi this season. He was one of those players who scored points whenever his team Gujarat needs.

Thailand Kabaddi Team’s captain Khomsan Thongkham is the overseas purchase for Dabang Delhi. Yogesh Hooda, Kamal Kishor Jat, and Naveen Kumar are the other raiders that will play for Delhi.

The raiding side looks good but not great because the team is lacking an ace or prime raider to attack directly on opponent’s defense. But Delhi can become good raiding side if these raiders co-ordinate and compliment well with each other.

Defenders

The team has purchased a total of seven defenders. Delhi’s defense includes likes of Vishal Mane, Ravinder Pahal, Joginder Singh Narwal, Anil Kumar, Satpal, Viraj Landge and Tushar Bhoir.

Vishal Mane was a part of Patna Pirates in season 5. He was successful at initial days of the season with scoring few high-fives. But later as the season proceeded on, failed to deliver his performance which was expected by the team.

Dabang Delhi brought back ‘The Hawk’ Ravinder Pahal after 2 seasons. Ravinder played first 3 seasons from Delhi out of which he was the best defender in season 2. Later he was brought by Puneri Paltan in season 4 and Bengaluru Bulls in season 5.

After season 2 his performance has been on a rapid decline. He got the red card in a match against Bengal Warriors due to which he had to miss three matches in last season.

Just like Ravinder Pahal, another defender Joginder Singh Narwal also failed in showing his performance in last season for U Mumba.

Viraj Landge and Satpal are back in the team due to the usage of FBM card by Delhi team management at the auctions. Both have played well for the team in last season. Along with this Tushar Bhoir and Anil Kumar will also be a part of Delhi Defense.

Talking about defense, there is no reliable defender in the team. Some of the experienced defenders like Ravinder Pahal, Joginder Singh Narwal, and Vishal Mane were out of form in last season. Defense side could have been much better with consistent and reliable players than this one.

All-Rounders

Meraj Sheykh, Rajesh Narwal, Siddharth, Vishal, and Tapas Pal are the five all-rounders in Delhi’s team for season 6 of PKL.

Meraj Sheykh, the Iranian all-rounder was retained by Dabang Delhi. He has been one of the best all-rounders of PKL. He has scored 250 raid and 15 tackle points in 63 matches. Meraj was part of Telugu Titans in first three seasons. Since 4 he has been playing for Delhi. He always gives his best whenever the team needs.

Rajesh Narwal was also bought by Delhi. He played for Jaipur Pink Panthers in four seasons from 2014. Until 4 seasons Rajesh has performed outstandingly well with his all-rounding skills. He was brought by UP Yoddha in the last season where he did not get enough chances to prove. As a result, Rajesh did not perform well in season 5.

Siddharth, Vishal, and Tapas Pal who was retained by Delhi are some young all-rounders. With Meraj Sheykh and Rajesh Narwal, all-rounders list seems to be a balanced one.

Dabang Delhi K.C. has never qualified for semis. Their standings at the points table are at 6th, 7th, 8th, 7th and 6th (Last In Zone A) position in all five seasons. The new coach Krishan Kumar Hooda will first aim to set a balanced combination of the team and then on strategy making. All-in-all, with some good picks in the auction, Delhi fans can expect Dabang Delhi’s game to be a step higher than the previous seasons.
