Fazel Atrachali: Iran’s fearless defense master
The sport of Kabaddi was very much limited to India is now a globally watched game. Pro Kabaddi League that was introduced in 2014 made it possible. Recently, Iran Men’s and Women’s Kabaddi Team won the Gold medal in the Asian Games 2018. It’s a revolution that has taken place in World Kabaddi. Fazel Atrachali led the Iran team to their historic first Gold.
Iranian right corner defender Fazel Atrachali is one of those foreign players who has their own fan-base in India too. He is one of the best foreign players of Pro Kabaddi League. With a whopping prize of Rs.1 Cr. Fazel became the most expensive foreign player and fifth overall to fetch such a massive figure.
Fazel was with U Mumba in season 2. But he scored 11 tackle points as he did not get the chance in starting seven of U Mumba. Next season he got a chance in starting seven due to Surender Nada’s poor form. He played very well and managed to score 32 tackle points from 11 matches.
After he was purchased by Patna Pirates for season 4, Fazel grabbed 52 tackle points from 16 matches and became ‘Best Defender of the Season’. He played a crucial role in Patna’s triumph.
He was signed by Gujarat Fortunegiants in last season, where he scored 57 tackle points in 24 matches. His partnership with Abozar Mohajermighani was one of the best with their understanding and quick reaction time. Both of them stood like two defensive pillars in last season. But both of them will play against each other as Fazel is part of U Mumba and Abozar is brought by Telugu Titans.
Fazel is a brilliant player with his dashes and ankle holds. He is well-known for his fearless attitude on the Kabaddi mat. Apart from the 2018 Asian Games Gold medal, he has won Silver medals in Asian Games 2010 and 2014. He has won Fazel will represent U Mumba in the upcoming season of Pro Kabaddi League.
Pro Kabaddi League to kick-off from 7th October 2018. On an opening day, Fazel Atrachali’s U Mumba will take on Puneri Paltan in Maharashtra Derby.
