Greater Noida to the host UP leg matches of PKL Season 6
Pro Kabaddi League’s Lucknow based franchise UP Yoddha is owned by GMR League games Pvt. Ltd. This season there is a change in the venue for the home matches of UP Yoddha.
UP leg matches will be held at Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Greater Noida. The matches are scheduled from 2nd to 8th November 2018. In the previous season Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, Lucknow was their home ground.
Rishank Devadiga, who led Maharashtra team to win 65th Senior National Kabaddi after a gap of 11 years is announced as the captain of UP Yoddha in season 6 of PKL. Talking about his new role Rishank said, “Experience of leading Maharashtra will definitely help me. The responsibility is big and we have a new team with good depth. I am excited to lead our group. As a captain, my objective will be to emerge champions like I did with Maharashtra team.”
Vinod Bisht, VP, GMR League Games was also hopeful for a better season under the new leader. “Our first season was a good experience for us and the team and the management learnt their lessons well. This year we have been very careful in choosing our players and we are confident of improving from last season. I am glad that the coach and the team has chosen Rishank as their captain and his recent stint as Maharashtra captain has only shown us his capability and how he is the apt choice for the position,” he said.
UP Yoddha was successful in reaching playoffs in PKL season 5. It was their maiden PKL season. Rishank Devadiga led-UP Yoddha will start their campaign by taking on Tamil Thalaivas on 8th October 2018.
