Inaugural World Cup Kabaddi 2019 to be held in Melaka next year

The historical city of Melaka, Malaysia will feature the best Kabaddi talents from around the globe when it hosts the World Cup Kabaddi from the 2nd – 15th April, 2019.

The tournament hosted by the Malaysia Kabaddi Federation (MKF) and sanctioned by World Kabaddi, is expected to see top teams from all five continents taking part in both the men’s and women’s competition.

1000 players from 40 countries like Canada, Mauritius, Egypt, Australia, Kenya, India will take part in this championships.

Thirty-two men’s team and 24 women’s teams are expected to participate in the World Cup with hosts Malaysia fielding teams in both categories. About 146 matches will be played from 2nd April to 15th April 2019.

Mohd Khalil launched the World Cup Kabaddi 2019. Vice President Jagjit Singh and state Health and Anti Drug Committee chairman Low Chee Leong were also present at the event.

All the matches will be broadcasted in Malaysia and overseas.

Indian players who recently represented India at Asian Games 2018 and who play Pro Kabaddi League will not participate in this championship as they are associated with International Kabaddi Federation (IKF).
