Interesting facts about PKL Season 8 Auction

The New Young Players (NYP) draft was carried out on August 29, while the overseas and Category A players and Category A (domestic players) went under the hammer on August 30. The auction for the players in categories B, C, and D took place on August 31.

For the first time in PKL history, there was a female auctioneer for the event. Mallika auctioned the event for 3 days.

Over 500 players around the world went under the hammer on 29th August 2021 out of which190 players (Domestic & Overseas) were sold to 12 PKL Franchise teams in the 3 eventful days of the auction.

Each team had the purse amount of 4.40 crore rupees for the PKL Season 8 Player Auction.

Telugu Titans & Jaipur Pink Panthers spent the most in the 3 days of auction. 4.22 crore rupees was sent each by both of the teams. Titans made the highest bid for Siddharth Desai (1.30 crore rupees) while Jaipur made their highest bid on Arjun Deshwal (96 rupees).

U Mumba spent least in the auction, a total of 3.77 crore rupees was spent by the team.

The highest bid made by U Mumba was on Rinku Sharma (32 lakh rupees).

10 “FINAL BID MATCH” cards were exercised during the 3 days of auction.

‘Pardeep Narwal’ became the highest selling player in PKL history including the PKL 8 auction. UP Yoddha roped in Pardeep Narwal for 1.65 crore rupees.

The highest selling overseas player was the Iranian all-rounder Md. Reza Shadloui who was roped in by Patna Pirates at a price of 31 lakh rupees.

Siddharth Desai was roped in at the highest amount by the use of a FBM card (1.30 crore rupees, Telugu Titans).

Arjun Deshwal was the highest selling domestic player in the auction, Jaipur signed him at a price of 96 lakh rupees.

Total 24 overseas players from 6 different countries (Iran, South Korea, Bangladesh, Japan, Kenya & Sri Lanka) were signed during the auction.

This was all about the PKL 8 player auction.

After a two-year gap due to the coronavirus pandemic, the upcoming season of the PKL is all set to begin from December 22.
