International Referee Aarti Bari celebrates Kabaddi Day with Blood Donation Drive

Every year July 15 is celebrated as Kabaddi Day in the state of Maharashtra. This day is the birth anniversary of Late. Shankarrao (Buwa) Salwi who is referred as ‘Kabaddi Maharshi’ by the kabaddi fraternity across the country. Many kabaddi organizations take this opportunity to pay homage to Mr. Salwi by conducting various activities on this day. International and Pro-Kabaddi referee Aarti Bari also did the same by conducting a blood donation drive through Swastik Krida Mandal.

A blood donation drive was organized on Sunday, 18th July 2021 at Prabodhan Krida Bhavan, Goregaon. The thought behind this was simple. With the current situation across the country, there is shortage of blood in blood banks. The Swastik Krida Mandal took this as an opportunity to serve the needy and help hospitals.

Swastik Krida Mandal and Mahila Dahihandi Pathak have been in existence since 2005 and in 2014, they also demonstrated Dahihandi at Times Square in New York. Bari also serves as the Treasurer of the Maharashtra Dahihandi Coordinating Committee. In response to the government’s call, Bari is being praised by the kabaddi sector for carrying out social activities.

This was attended by Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Subhash Desai, MLA Prakash Surve, Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Award Winner Sandeep Walawalkar.
