Kabaddi fan Rishi Kapoor passes away

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai today. He breathed his last at the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai. He had been undergoing treatment for the past one week. He returned to Mumbai last year after nearly a year of treatment for cancer in the United States. However, he said that it would take some time for him to recover.

Rishi Kapoor was a fan of Kabaddi. He had close ties with Abhishek Bachchan, owner of Jaipur Pink Panthers, a team in the Pro Kabaddi League, and Ronnie Screwvala, owner of U-Mumba. He was often present on the field to watch the matches of these two teams. News of Rishi Kapoor’s demise caused a stir in the kabaddi sector.

Many kabaddi players and team owners paid homage to him by posting on social media. These include Ronnie Screwvala, Akshay Kumar, Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association President Gajanan Kirtikar, Ketki Golatkar of Star Sports, Deepak Niwas Hooda, Pawan Singh Sehrawat and Naveen Kumar.
