Mumbai Che Raje bow out of Parle G Indo International Premier Kabaddi League with heads held high
Bengaluru,June 1, 2019: Day 1 of the Bengaluru Leg of Parle G Indo International Premier Kabaddi League(IPKL) saw Mumbai Che Raje winning their last league game against Haryana Heros with a score line of 69-53.
The match started with Mumbai Che Raje winning the toss against Haryana Heros and forcing the first raid. The match started with a neck to neck fight but Mumbai Che Raje looked to take the early advantage as they raced to a 4 point advantage at the at 11-7 with the help of some aggressive play. Haryana soon pulled it back and to everyone’s surprise with a super tackle by Monu Jakhar in the dying minutes of the first quarter Haryana gained a one point advantage at 15-14.
The second quarter started with Haryana Heros carrying the momentum. Showing their aggressive intent Haryana went into a six point lead at 24-18. They maintained the pressure and at the end of Half -time the score stood at 31-24 as a Sagar Singh’s bonus plus double point scoring raid helped them close the half with a 7 point advantage.
The third quarter was a different story and Mumbai came back strongly. From 31-24 down they leveled the score at 32 -32 as Maniveera Kantha scored a bonus point. It was very difficult to ascertain who will walk away with the quarter as both the teams continued being equal for the next two points till 34-34.
Mumbai picked up the pace from here and established a 9 point advantage closing the quarter 3 at 47-38 in their favour and taking 23 points to Haryana’s 7. There was no looking back for Mumbai as Mahesh Magdum, Maniveera Kantha and A Arul were in the mood to walk away with the game with ease. They together scored 38 points out of 69 with each scoring 18, 10 and 10 points respectively. The gap was too large for Haryana to catch up and the match finally ended with Mumbai winning the game 69-53. This was also the highest individual score by any team in the league.
