National sports awardees 2020 from kabaddi

National Sports Awards are conferred every year to recognize and reward excellence in various sports categories. It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. They are presented by the President of India in the same ceremony at the Presidential Palace.
Our own kabaddi stars were also nominated for the National Sports Award 2020 under three different categories.
DEEPAK NIWAS HOODA (ARJUNA AWARD)
KRISHAN KUMAR HOODA (DRONACHARYA AWARD)
MANPREET SINGH (MAJOR DHYANCHAND AWARD)
Due to the pandemic, the award ceremony wasn’t conducted to avoid the physical gathering.
The players were honoured with their respective awards virtually.
Let’s have a look at the kabaddi journey of the awardees.
DEEPAK NIWAS HOODA (ARJUNA AWARD)
Deepak Hooda, currently the captain of Indian National Kabaddi Team & one of the finest kabaddi All-rounders made his international debut for India at 2016 South Asian Games and won the gold.
Deepak has been the consistent part of the team after his successful debut at 2016 SAG.
Here’s the achievements of Deepak at international stage after 2016 SAG:
- 2016 Kabaddi World Cup (Gold Medal)
2. 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championship (Gold Medal)
3. 2018 Kabaddi Masters (Gold Medal)
4. 2018 Asian Games (Bronze Medal)
5. 2019 South Asian Games, led the team as captain to gold medal victory
KRISHAN KUMAR HOODA (DRONACHARYA AWARD)
He has guided Indian national kabaddi teams to multiple title victories at Asian kabaddi championships & South Asian Games.
Under his coaching Delhi made it to playoffs in PKL6 & reached in the finals of PKL7.
He will continue his duties as the coach of Dabang Delhi KC in PKL season 8 also.
MANPREET SINGH (MAJOR DHYAN CHAND AWARD)
Manpreet Singh has won gold medals twice with Indian National kabaddi team at Asian Games (2002 Asian games & 2006 Asian Games).
He was awarded by the prestigious “Dhyanchand Award” in year 2020.Manpreet Singh as a captain, led Patna Pirates to PKL 3 title victory, Talking about his coaching career, He made his debut as coach in PKL in season 5 with Gujarat Giants.
He successfully guided the team to the Finals in PKL 5 & PKL 6.
He will continue his duties as the coach of Gujarat Giants in PKL season 8 also.
