Pardeep Narwal: The Unstoppable Raid Machine

21-year-old Pardeep Narwal has been one of the most fierce raiders of the Pro Kabaddi League. Famously known for his ‘Dubki’ (a dive beneath the chain tackle) Pardeep has performed outstandingly well in last three seasons.

In the last season of PKL, Pardeep scored 369 raid points which is the most by any player in PKL history. Due to his heroics, Patna Pirates has been crowned the Pro Kabaddi champions thrice in a row.

Pardeep, who hails from Sonipat, Haryana, has many records to his name. He is almost a consistent performer in every match of the season. Most raid points in one match, Most super raids in all seasons of PKL, Most raid points in one season, Most super 10’s in one season are a bunch of records held by the raid master.

Pardeep Narwal was part of Bengaluru Bulls in season 2 where he did not get chance in starting seven. But in season 3 he was signed by Patna Pirates. He managed to score 116 raid points from 16 matches. He did the most Super Raids (16), also the most Super 10’s record was jointly held by Pardeep, Surjeet Singh, and Rohit Kumar in the season 3.

He was awarded the ‘Emerging Player’ in season 3. His dubki was unpredictable to the opponent’s defense. As a result, Patna Pirates won the season 3. The story was the same in the fourth season of PKL as well. Pardeep Narwal scored 131 raid points from 16 matches. Patna Pirates once again became the champion side and Pardeep was the hero of their victory.

Pro Kabaddi League season 5 was different for Pardeep as he was chosen the captain of Patna Pirates. But even after this huge responsibility, there was no decline in his performance. In fact, he led his team Patna to a yet another championship title. Patna was crowned as champions for the third time and this was a special moment for the pirates as it was a hat-trick of title wins. Pardeep has been instrumental in their three consecutive title-winning runs.

Pardeep scored 369 raid points in season 5. This is the most by anyone in PKL history. He also scored most super raids (18) and most super 10’s (19) in the whole season.

In an eliminator match against Haryana Steelers, Pardeep went for the raid when there were 6 defenders, he caught all of them out and got 8 points (6 for touches on the players and 2 for the all-out). He scored 34 raid points in that match and successfully broke the record of Rohit Kumar who had scored 30 points against UP Yoddha in a single match. Last season was indeed special for Pardeep Narwal. It was Pardeep all the way as he managed to break almost all the existing records and also created a few in that moment. People will remember the last season for the Kabaddi heroics displayed by Pardeep for a long time.

Pardeep’s Patna Pirates will be up against the Tamil Thalaivas on 6th October 2018. Undoubtedly, everybody’s eyes are bound to be on Pardeep’s performance this season.
