Patna Pirates fails to qualify for the playoffs of PKL 6

Pro Kabaddi League season 6 has been much engaging and intriguing than never before. This season has witnessed many records by the players. Shocking results have been came out. Yesterday (27th December) the PKL 6 journey of three times defending champions came to an end after UP Yoddha went to the playoffs.

Playoffs matches will be commenced from Sunday (30th December). For the playoffs, U Mumba, Gujarat Fortunegiants and Dabang Delhi K.C. have booked their spot from Zone A. From Zone B Bengaluru Bulls, Bengal Warriors and UP Yoddha have made it to the playoffs.

Looking at Zone B Patna Pirates, Telugu Titans and Tamil Thaliavas have got officially eliminated from the playoffs contentions. Despite having a good team combination these teams have got failed to live upon the expectations of their fans.

1) Patna Pirates

For the first time in the league’s history Patna Pirates will not be seen in the qualifiers. After loosing matches at initial stages they got rhythm in their home leg. Then after they consecutively lost the matches. Main thing of this was that Patna Pirates were over dependent on their skipper Pareep Narwal for the raiding. Deepak Narwal and Manjeet did not supported him like Monu Goyat did in PKL 5. Their defence was never set throughout the season. They kept changing the defenders. And all this together cost  In group stage Puneri Paltan won 9 matches, lost 11 and 2 matches were drawn.

2) Telugu Titans

In their second consecutive PKL season Telugu Titans did not qualified for the playoffs. Rahul Chaudhari played well but did not get support from Telugu’s secondary raider Nilesh Salunke. Unlike Patna Pirates defence of the Telugu Titans was rock solid with Vishal Bhardwaj on the left corner and Abozar Mohajermighani on the right corner. These players individually gave their performance. But Telugu never played as a team. Telugu Titans has 8 wins, 13 losses and 1 draw to their name in group stage.

3) Tamil Thalaivas

Tamil Thalaivas has the most number of experienced players in the squad. They started a season with a bang they lost 4 out of 5 matches in their home leg. And they never rise up with this setback. Both offence and defence never looked stable. In raiding skipper Ajay Thakur led from the front. But never got support. In defence Manjeet Chhillar and Amit Hooda were good. Other defenders did not contribute to the team. Tamil Thalaivas won 5 matches, lost 13 matches and drawn 4 matches.
