PKL Season 8 Auction Series: Puneri Paltan will look for a dominant start this season
Puneri Paltan, featuring in the tournament since the 1st season of PKL but have never made it to the finals. However, this team is considered as one of the highest productive team in this auction by including plenty of players into the squad.
In this article, we will have a look at their auction buys in each department i.e. Raiders , Defenders and All-rounders through an analysis.
In defense, they had brought total 6 players into their team which includes Vishal Bhardwaj (INR 60 lakhs), Baldev Singh (INR 60 lakhs) and Sombir (INR 34.50) as their highest and 2nd highest buys along with Karamvir, Sourav and Abinesh as their backups at nearly base price. As they had already retained their prime players like Hadi, Balasaheb Jadhav and Sanket their defense unit looks well settled towards upcoming season.
On the other hand, their main strength is in defense department itself. Vishal, one of the promising player over the last few seasons and Baldev, recent part with the campions Bengal Warriors will definitely benefit them in terms of performance and experience as well. This combination of left – right corners is an asset for Puneri Paltan this season.
In raiding unit, they had bought 3 players i.e. Nitin Tomar (INR 61 lakhs), Rahul Chaudhari (INR 40 lakhs) and Vishwa S (INR 10 lakhs). Along with Pankaj Mohite and Pawan Kadian as their retained raiders, team looks quite well to compete strong in the tournament. But still due to lack of quality backups for their frontline raiders which results in fitness of these players will an vital role in team’s progress towards season.
In the allrounders unit, they had brought only 2 players i.e. E Subash and Victor Obiero, an overseas player from Kenya. However, they haven’t retained anyone from allrounders unit thus their allrounders unit looks very weak in terms of experienced players. Players like Mohit and Govind as recent inclusion into the squad as new young players will have a lot potential to prove themselves if given enough number of opportunities towards upcoming season.
