Question mark over Siddharth Desai’s team at the national Kabaddi championship
Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) recognized and Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association organized 66th Men’s Senior National Kabaddi Championships will take place in Roha tehsil of Raigad district from 28th January to 31st January 2019.
For this Nationals 12 players are selected from Maharashtra’s camp of 30 players which was organized by Raigad District Kabaddi Association from 13th January at Nagothane, Alibaug, Raigad. Pro Kabaddi League star raider and Maharashtra’s raiding sensation Siddharth Desai is also selected from Maharashtra team.
But Siddharth Desai is a player of Railways team. He participated in 68th All India Inter Railway Kabaddi Championship and had a major contribution in the win of his represented South Central Railway team. He was also awarded Best Player of the Tournament award. As Siddharth attended Maharashtra team’ camp he was absent for the Railways team camp which is being held in Mumbai. And due to this, he will not be in the Railways squad for the nationals.
Siddharth resigned from the Railways to play from Maharashtra team. But his resignation is not accepted by them. So the scenario is he will not play from Maharashtra too as Railways has not given NOC (No Objection Certificate) to him. Siddharth only can play from Maharashtra after Railways accepts his resignation and completes all technical formalities.
When he was asked about all this he said, “I wish to play from Maharashtra team. In the nationals, I will play from Maharashtra team only. But I can’t comment on whatever is happening.” 5 days have remained for the nationals. These 5 days will decide whether Siddharth plays from Maharashtra team or not.
It was a record-breaking and unforgettable PKL debut season for Siddharth Desai. He cliched 218 raid points from 21 matches. He has scored 12 Super 10’s and 10 Super Raids with an impressive average of 10.38 raid points. He is the only player to score 200 raid points in maiden PKL appearance. Also he took his team U Mumba into the playoffs of PKL 6
