Prashanth Kumar Rai to lead Patna Pirates in PKL 8

Pro Kabaddi League season 8 is just 22 days away. Team’s preparations are going on in their training camps. After a gap of two years PKL will be held. Due to covid pandemic all matches will be played under one roof. Bengaluru city will host the upcoming PKL season 8 from 22nd December.

Patna Pirates is considered as one of the most successful teams in PKL history. They were crowned as champions in season 3, 4 and 5. After that, team could not make it to the playoffs in the last two seasons. Pirates made the most shocking move with releasing star raider Pardeep Narwal ahead of this season.

For the eighth edition of PKL, Patna Pirates has handed over the captaincy to Prashanth Kumar Rai. Patna Pirates bought him for Rs.55 lakh at the auctions. Before this Prashanth has been part of Telugu Titans (PKL 1, 2, 3), Dabang Delhi KC (PKL 4), Haryana Steelers (PKL 5, 7) and UP Yoddha (PKL 6).

Running hand touch specialist Prashanth has a total of 403 raid points in 97 matches played. This calm raider has scored 12 super 10s and his average is 4.15 raid points per match.

Having partners like Monu Goyat and Sachin in raiding Prashanth now can focus more on team building. It will be interesting to see whether Prashanth and Pirates team lift the trophy for the fourth time or not.
