Pune and Mumbai shine on the first day of the 66th Senior Kabaddi Championships

66th Senior Group State Men’s and Women’s Championships and selection trials started yesterday in Aadava Phata, Sinnar, Nashik. The championship is recognized by Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association. It is organized by Nashik District Kabaddi Association and Sahyadri Yuva Manch.

On the opening day of the championships, 12 matches were played in the Men’s category. In Women’s category 6 matches were held. In Men’s category, Ratnagiri defeated hosts Nashik 49-28 in the opening match. The defending champions Pune thrashed Beed 45-15. Rohit Pashte and Sagar Kale were brilliant for Pune.

In Women’s category, hosts Nashik win over the Parbhani as 53-30. Jyoti Pawar went for some good raids for them. Latur got defeated by Palghar as 8-66. It was a huge victory for the Palghar with 58 points margin. Raigad got a win over the Jalgaon as 67-23. Anita Bhoir and Monali Ghonge were outstanding for them in offense and defense respectively.

Pune outperformed Usmanabad by 71 points margin. They won 73-2. The defending champions Mumbai Suburb defeated Solapur 84-18. Komal Devkar and Rani Upahar of Mumbai Suburb performed very well in offense and defense respectively.

On an opening day both Men’s and Women’s teams of the districts Pune, Mumbai Upanagar, Raigad and Sangali won their matches.
