Pune become the first team to qualify for finals, defeat Chennai Challengers 39-34

Bengaluru, June 3rd 2019:  Pune Pride reaches the final of Parle G IPKL beating Chennai Challengers by 39-34 in the first semi-final played at the Bengaluru’s iconic Sree Kanteevera Stadium. As expected from a semi-final, the match was full of action and closely contested by both teams.

Zone A topper, Pune dominated the first quarter and scored 14 points against Chennai’s 6. In the second quarter, Chennai made a comeback by scoring 9 points against Pune’s 6, closing the gap to 20-15 at half time. Chennai came out all guns blazing in the third quarter and scored 14 points against while Pune could only manage 4 points in response.

The third quarter finished with Chennai leading 29-24. However, Pune turned the tables in the fourth quarter by scoring 15 points against Chennai’s 5 points, winning the match by 39-34. With this win, Pune become the first team to reach the final of Parle G IPKL 2019.

Amarjeeth Singh scored 12 points whereas Venkatesha scored 8 for the winning team. Elayaraja contributed the maximum 16 points for Chennai Challengers.
