Puneri Paltan players celebrate International Yoga Day
Pune: Assembling for their camp in the hilly outskirts of Pune, Puneri Paltan players kicked off their regular Yoga sessions on International Yoga Day, this 21st June, by practicing Yoga with Yoga Acharya, Shraddha Nathani. Yoga forms a part of the Paltan’s regular fitness regime to help the players concentrate on their physical as well as mental strength.
This year, the International Day of Yoga marked its fifth anniversary since its inception in 2015. Yoga is symbolic of the country’s rich culture and diversity, likewise, Kabaddi also forms the essence of ancient Indian tradition. The core of Yoga is to focus on the breath and practice conscious, mindful Yoga Asanas to maximize the impact, create balance and harmony leading to the enhanced holistic development of the mind and body.
Puneri Paltan has been true to the culture that it represents, by effortlessly incorporating Yoga in their regular practice sessions.
Shraddha Nathani, a marketing professional with 13+ years of experience in Advertising and Marketing is also a registered Yoga teacher who takes regular Yoga workshops in Kerala, New York, and the Bahamas. She has been taking Yoga sessions for the Paltan since Vivo PKL Season 5.
On the occasion of Yoga Day, Shraddha Nathani said, “For Puneri Paltan Kabaddi players, Yoga is a must due to the fast-paced nature of the game which demands high intensity, swift reflexes, and quick thinking. To be able to perform at such a competitive stage, the players need to have a calm mind on the mat which can be achieved by practicing Yoga off the mat.”
Anup Kumar, Head Coach, Puneri Paltan added, “Yoga is an important aspect of Puneri Paltan’s fitness routine due to its numerous benefits. Yoga is a part of India’s heritage. Today, more and more cultures are adopting the practice. I make sure that regular Yoga sessions are a part of the team’s fitness routine.”
With renewed enthusiasm and vigour, Puneri Paltan is gearing up for the seventh edition of Vivo Pro Kabaddi League which commences on 20th July 2019.
