PKL 7 Performance Series: Rinku vs Surjeet, the battle of Defense

Rinku Narwal, after 2 decent seasons for Puneri Paltan moved to Bengal Warriors last season and delivered his best performance of PKL. PO Surjeet Singh, on the other side is a magnificent operator of the defensive skill called Dash which allows the defender to overthrow the raider out of the mat. However, his performance as a captain for Puneri Paltan was not up to the mark and the team finished in bottom 6 last season.
Analysis of Rinku Narwal’s Performance
Above chart, shows us that Rinku played 23 matches for his team Bengal Warriors. In PKL 5, he made his debut with Puneri Paltan. Even though he was given limited opportunities, he impressed his team management and eventually, played PKL 6 for the same team. After playing back to back seasons for the same team, in PKL 7, he was bought by Bengal Warriors as their left corner defender. In last season, he scored 60 successful tackles, 64 tackle points, 4 super tackles, 4 high 5s with an average tackle point of 2.78. His performance helped Bengal Warriors to win their 1st ever title. When it comes to his tackle strike rate, he has one of the best strike rates in terms of tackles i.e. 45.11%.
Analysis of Surjeet Singh’s Performance
Here, we notice that Surjeet played 21 matches for his team Puneri Paltan. He is one of the finest Cover defenders who is always eager to tackle raiders with his specialized skills mainly Dash & Block. He is playing PKL from its 3rd edition and till now played for franchises like U Mumba, Bengal Warriors and Puneri Paltan. However, in PKL 5 he scored the most number of High 5s with Surender Nada. In PKL 7, he holds the record of most successful Cover defender of the league. In last season, he scored 56 successful tackles, 63 tackle points, 7 super tackles, 7 high 5s with an Average tackle points of 3. In International Career, Surjeet was the part of 2016 Kabaddi World Cup winning Indian team.
