The Road to the Finals of PKL 6 for Gujarat Fortunegiants

Pro Kabaddi League is the second most popular league of India, after Indian Premier League (IPL). After 132 league matches and 5 playoff matches, the season 6 will get a new winner tonight (5th January). It will be either Bengaluru Bulls or Gujarat Fortunegiants. PKL 6 is turned out to be a fascinated one in many ways like records, fans engagement, their support, new stars which are emerged from the league. Due to unexpected and shocking results this Pro Kabaddi League season is counted as unpredictable one.

PKL 6 Journey :

Manpreet Singh & Neer Gulia coached and Sunil Kumar led Gujarat Fortunegiants tied their first match with Dabang Delhi K.C. In the second match, they suffered a defeat against Haryana Steelers. After this Gujarat Fortunegiants did not look back and straight away won 7 matches. In their home leg, Gujarat Fortunegiants were successful in winning 4 matches. One they tied and another one they lost.

On 4th December Gujarat Fortunegiants thrashed Patna Pirates 45-27and got qualified for the playoffs of Pro Kabaddi League campaign 6. In the league stage, Gujarat Fortunegiants won 17, lost 3 and tied 2 matches. They defeated Jaipur Pink Panthers and Puneri Paltan three times each in the entire season. Gujarat finished as a table toppers of Zone A.

Raiding Department :

Prime raider Sachin has been incredible for the Gujarat Fortunegiants as he is their top raid points scorer. He has got 180 raid points from 22 matches. K Prapanjan and Rohit Gulia have given good support to him. K Prapanjan has clinched 117 raid points from 21 matches. Rohit Gulia scored 53 raid points from 18 matches. Gujarat Fortunegiants has always changed their third raider. Whenever the raiders like Ajay Kumar, Dong Geon Lee, and Mahendra Ganesh Rajput have got chance as a third raider they have proven themselves.

Defence :

Gujarat Fortunegiants defence is one of the deadliest defensive combinations in the entire league. Skipper Sunil Kumar and Parvesh Bhainswal are two strong pillars of it. Both of them have inspired Ruturaj Koravi and Sachin Vittala to perform well. Left Cover Parvesh Bhainswal has grabbed a total of 84 tackle points from 24 matches. Skipper and Right Cover Sunil Kumar has clinched 72 tackle points from 24 matches. Left Corner Sachin Vittala has scored 24 tackle points from 21 games. Right Corner Ruturaj Koravi has 47 tackle points in 22 games. All rounder Hadi Oshtorak has given his all-round touch on both the fronts of offence and defence.

Gujarat Fortunegiants is the most consistent team among all those such as Haryana Steelers, UP Yoddha and Tamil Thalaivas which were brought in season 5 with the aim of expansion of the league. In the Finals of PKL 5, Gujarat Fortunegiants lost against Patna Pirates 38-55. Gujarat Fortunegiants have made it into the finals for the second consecutive time.
