Tamil Thalaivas coach Opens up About the signings for upcoming Season
Pro Kabaddi League’s eighth edition is about to start in few days. Bengaluru will host the upcoming season from 22nd December. Back in 2017, Tamil Thalaivas team was introduced in Pro Kabaddi League. IQuest Enterprises Pvt Ltd & Blasters Sports Ventures Pvt Ltd are the owners of this team.
For the eighth season, this team released star players like Ajay Thakur, Rahul Chaudhari, Manjeet Chhillar, Mohit Chhillar, Shabeer Bapu. V Ajith Kumar who handled the raiding department alone was also not retained by the team management. The team faced a lot of criticism by the fans for this decision.
New Young Players such as Himanshu, Sagar, and Abhishek were kept in the team for season 8. During the auction for season 8, which was held in Mumbai, this team not only made some good buys but also made sure that they are able to set a good balance. The whole team is reshuffled now.
One of the best right covers of PKL history, PO Surjeet Singh is now a captain of Tamil Thalaivas. Himanshu, Sagar will be his partners in defense. Sagar Krishna, Santhapanaselvam, Sourabh Patil are the allrounders in Tamil camp. Players like Manjeet Dahiya, Athul MS, K Prapanjan will be seen raiding for Tamil. On paper this team looks quite good.
Talking about the team, Coach Udaya Kumar made a statement “To make a team for the long run, we’ve picked talented young players, increased their confidence, and given them the chance. We didn’t want to depend only on big budget players”. These strong words from the coach have answered of many questions.
In three seasons this team has competed in they have finished as the last in standings. This ‘not so wanted’ record is on their name. Surjeet’s first challenge will be to remove this tag from team’s name and then to qualify for playoffs. Tamil Thalaivas will play southern derby against Telugu Titans on the inaugural day.
