The Chaos At 71st Men’s State Kabaddi Championship Final After Umpires Were Abused By State Federation Officials

Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association & Pune District Amateur Kabaddi Association had conducted 71st Men’s State Kabaddi Championships & Selection Trials.

The competition was inaugurated on 15th July at Badminton Hall, Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Mhalunge Balewadi, Baner, Pune, Maharashtra.

Ahmednagar & Pune Rural went to the final of this tournament. Pune Rural won title as they thrashed Ahmednagar in the final match. The match was tie in 40 minutes.

Then after also it was draw when 5-5 raids to both the teams. Then golden raid was given to both teams where Pune Rural won the match.

Pune team won the toss & their player went for raid. He scored a bonus & was caught by the opposition Ahmednagar team.

Ahmednagar team thought they won the match. Their players in the dugout came on the ground & started celebrating. But umpires had given 1 point each to both teams.

Pune team demanded umpires a technical point through DRS as Ahmednagar team players came on the mat before match was ended.

Pune players & coach were asking umpires for DRS. But umpires were not in favour.

With this orgaaniser Baburao Chandere came on the mat & argued with umpires saying, Why are you giving DRS as if I’m forcing you to give DRS to Pune team.

There was a chaos between Baburao Chandere & umpires on the mat. After that match was resumed & Pune Rural team won the trophy here.

In his speech Baburao Chandere highlighted this incident & said “Umpires made a mistake. Maharashtra would’ve got the message of when I came on the mat they changed decision of not giving DRS to Pune team.

It’d have been ok if Pune team lost the match. But it was an effort of maligning my image. The team won because they played well”.

In his defense, a national player came out with a video. According to him “Baburao Chandere did not abuse umpires. In fact stopped Pune team players from shouting. So that umpires would take a wise decision. He stood with the truth”.

Veteran player & Arjuna Awardee Shantaram Jadhav is disappointed with all this. According to him ” This was not good at all. If organizers, federation officials starte abusing umpires, to whom can we demand a justice.

When a player does something wrong he gets banned for 3 years, what action will be taken on officials doing such thing? All district association officials should think about it”.
