The Vivo Pro Kabaddi League is the biggest festival in Kabaddi world. The response which PKL gets is huge. It is the second most viewed sports league in India. Since 2014 PKL has given a huge platform to so many talented players from many countries such as India, Iran, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Kenya. One such young & talented player is Patna Pirate’s ‘Kohinoor’ Mohammadreza Shadlu Chiyaneh.
21 years old Shadlu hails from Iran. Iran is called as new powerhouse of Kabaddi due to their Gold Medal triumph in 2018 Asian Games at Jakarta. Over the years Iran has produced many finest defenders Mohammadreza Shadlu Chiyaneh is the classic example of it. He was a part of Iran National team which had won Silver at Kabaddi Masters Dubai in 2018.
His all-round skills such as ankle holds, backholds & running hand touch let him a part of auction for Pro Kabaddi season 8. He was categorized as ‘C Category All-Rounder’ in player’s auction list. Three times PKL champion team Patna Pirates brought this all-rounder for Rs. 31 lakh. He became the ‘Most Expensive Overseas Player’ at the auction. He did not let down the price tag while playing for Patna.
This Iranian star defender was the most tackle points scorer in his debut PKL 8 edition. He had scored 89 tackle points from 24 games. He had 3 Super Tackles to his name. He scored record 10 high 5 which are the most by any defender in a single season. He won ‘Defender of The Season’ award. His defense from left corner position made Patna Pirates runner up in eighth season.
His signature moves are ankle holds & back holds. He plays fearlessly. Patna retained him for the season 9. On 19th November Chiyaneh scored record breaking 16 tackle points against Dabang Delhi KC. He executed record 8 Super Tackles in the match. It was a record breaking & fiery performance by him for which he got standing ovation from the audience of Gachibowli Stadium, Hyderabad.
Though Patna Pirates end up on a losing side, the whole audience was happy to see Chiyaneh playing so mesmerizingly. None of the Delhi raiders including skipper Naveen Kumar, Ashu Malik & Vijay Malik were able to fetch points in front of him. He put 8 super tackles & was about to score ninth but he lose the points as he stepped out of boundaries. His brilliance made him ‘Player Of The Match”.
His performance will be remembered for a long time. His deadly tackles will be unforgettable for the fans who watched his performance live at the stadium & on the Tv sets or mobile too. Currently he is the second most tackle points scorer in PKL 9. He is leading Patna’s defense as the team is looking to qualify for playoffs first in order to win the fourth PKL title. His role will be crucial in it.
