These performances from the Tamil and Patna match stole the show
Pro Kabaddi League season 6 got off to a superb start as Tamil Thalaivas began their home leg with a winning start. They thrashed the defending champions Patna Pirates as 42-26. From Tamil Thalaivas, Skipper Ajay Thakur scored 14 raid points and Amit Hooda-Manjeet Chhillar’s corner combination was successful in keeping Patna’s ace raider Pardeep Narwal quiet. Ajay Thakur, Amit Hooda, Surjeet Singh shine for Tamil Thalaivas whereas Pardeep tried his best but was not enough to win the game for his team.
Best Raiding Performances:-
1) Ajay Thakur, Tamil Thalaivas
Tamil Thalaivas skipper Ajay Thakur led from the front and clinched the victory for his team. He scored 14 raid points. It looked like there was no force stopping him. Patna Pirates defense had no answer to his raids. Ajay Thakur has become the first player to score 4 Super 10’s against Patna Pirates.
2) Pardeep Narwal, Patna Pirates
It was expected that season 5’s Best Raider and Patna Pirates captain may produce a massive performance. And as thought of he scored a Super 10 by grabbing 11 raid points. But unfortunately, his side ended up on losing side.
3) Manjeet, Patna Pirates
As Patna Pirates were looked like they were missing Monu Goyat, Manjeet stood up and took the responsibility. He gave quite good support to his skipper Pardeep Narwal by scoring 8 raid points.
4) Surjeet Singh, Tamil Thalaivas
Along with the skipper, Surjeet also showed his raiding skills. He scored 7 raid points and supported Ajay Thakur very well. Surjeet also scored first Super Raid of this season.
Best Defensive Performances:-
1) Manjeet Chhillar, Tamil Thalaivas
PKL’s most successful defender Manjeet Chhillar marked his comeback with a bang. Due to an injury, he did not play up to the expectations in the previous season. But in this season he announced his comeback by scoring a High-5.
Manjeet scored 5 points with one Super Tackle. Manjeet who plays left cover changed his position for Pardeep. Whenever Pardeep came for raids he went to the left corner. Left corner Manjeet and Right corner Amit Hooda combination were successful in keeping Pardeep from running away with the game. And it worked for the Thalaivas.
2) Amit Hooda, Tamil Thalaivas
The rivalry between Right corner Amit Hooda and Patna Pirates were at its best. Amit Hooda was successful in tackling Pardeep Narwal with the support of mighty Manjeet Chhillar. Thalaivas used a different strategy for Pardeep as Manjeet played left corner whenever Pardeep was coming for the raids. Amit was successful in taking 4 defense points with his diving ankle holds and blocks.
