UP Yoddha Eliminate U Mumba To Maintain A Perfect Playoff record since Inception in Pro Kabaddi League

Bengaluru, February 17th, 2022: UP Yoddha, the GMR group owned franchisee, displayed their strength as a team eliminating U Mumba 35-28 to maintain their perfect record of making it to the playoffs since inception in the Pro Kabaddi League. Playing Match 124 of the PKL season, Surender Gill did the star turn for the Yoddhas yet again with eight points, While superstar Pardeep Narwal gave them high adrenaline start with a super raid as he ended the game collecting 6 points. The Yoddha’s defence was not just in form but was also on song as they collected a total of 13 tackle points in the games with contribution from captain Nitesh Kumar, Shubham, Ashu & Sumit. UP Yoddha finished their league engagements with 68 points from 22 games and are currently placed second in the league standings.

To their supporters pleasant surprise, the Yoddhas began on the front foot in this game, with star raider Pradeep Narwal notching up as many as five points within the first 10 minutes. With Surender Gill also getting into the act and with the Yoddhas defense having a brilliant first-half, the Yoddhas opened up a five point gap with the score reading 12-7 with five minutes of the half remaining.  They eventually went into the break at 18-12, a big six point lead, with Pradeep picking up six points. Those were surprisingly going to be his last points for the game.

U Mumba picked up the first point after the break, but the Yoddhas defense were still in their elements and the lead remained at six points. Then Abhishek Singh executed up a two point raid and after the first five minutes, the lead was cut down to three. With a Super Tackle on, Yoddhas defender Gurdeep was called out for a jersey-pull on raider Ajith and after another successful U Mumba tackle led by Rinku, the fightback was complete and the game was tied at 20 points a piece.

Surender then came into his elements as he often does in the second-half and with a three-point Super Raid, gave the Yoddhas the lead back . Fortunes however kept swinging in the game and when a strategic time-out was called with four minutes plus on the clock, U Mumba were ahead by one with the score at 26-27.

No team was willing to give it away and when Prathap went in for U Mumba’s final raid with 20 seconds left on the clock, the Yoddhas defense continued their good work for the day and affected a vital successful tackle on him as the scoreline read 31-28. Surender then provided the icing on the cake, picking up the last two U Mumba defenders while inflicting an All Out on them, to close the game out with a convincing 35-28 scoreline.
