What is your pick from the list of PKL’s Best Duos?

Pro Kabaddi League season 6 is to commence from 7th October 2018. Over 13 cities of India will host the matches. 12 teams will fight with each other for the crown of Pro Kabaddi Champions. The season will witness nail-biting action for almost 3 months.

Though Kabaddi is a team sport, there are always some players who become faces of that particular team. A team consists of seven players, but it is those players who leave an impact on the day that are etched in people’s mind.

Similarly there are pairs or duos who are known to be destructive in their approach when it comes to Kabaddi. They can change the dimension of the scoreboard within no time. We’ll have a look at some prominent pairs in Pro Kabaddi league so far who have made an impact with their Kabaddi skill-sets

1) Surender Nada – Mohit Chhillar

This duo has an unmatched chemistry with each other. From season 1, they have played together in the teams like U Mumba for first three seasons, then Bengaluru Bulls in season 4 and Haryana Steelers in season 5. When they come together they can strike terror into the hearts of even the most experienced raiders.

When Nada attempts an Ankle hold on the raider, Mohit immediately supports him from the right corner. Same is scenario when Mohit dashes any raider Nada makes sure that the raider does not get any chance to escape. Out of 227 tackle points of Haryana Steelers in season 5, 119 tackle points came from this SUMO (Surender Nada & Mohit Chhillar) duo.

Unfortunately, this season the duo has split, where Nada is with Haryana Steelers and Mohit has switched to Jaipur Pink Panthers. It will be interesting to see how both of them play against each other.

2) Fazel Atrachali – Abozar Mohajermighani

Iranian star defenders Fazel Atrachali and Abozar Mohajermighani stood like two defensive pillars for Gujarat Fortunegiants in the previous season.

Out of 254 tackle points scored by Gujarat Fortunegiants team together, this duo scored 122 tackle points. Gujarat was considered one of the strongest defense unit of season 5.

Their understanding and quick reaction time were one of the main reason why Gujarat managed to reach the finals in the debut season. In the upcoming season of Pro Kabaddi League, this pair will play against each other. Fazel will be playing for U Mumba and Abozar will be part of Telugu Titans.

3) Rahul Chaudhari – Nilesh Salunke

Rahul Chaudhari and Nilesh Salunke form a different raiding partnership. Both players posses completely different skill-set but still manage to score raid points at crucial situations.

Nilesh Salunke joined the Titans in season 4 and supported Rahul very well. Telugu Titans is a team where Rahul is a prime raider and Nilesh plays the role of a supporting raider.

This pair scored 282 raid points in season 5, while the entire Telugu Titans team scored 400 raid points. Both will be raiding for Telugu Titans in the upcoming season of Pro Kabaddi League.

4) Pardeep Narwal – Monu Goyat

Pardeep Narwal and Monu Goyat played outstandingly well for Patna Pirates in season 5. Credit to this raiding sensation Pirates crossed 1000 raid points in one season which was a record in PKL. Patna scored 1050 raid points where Pardeep and Monu together managed to claimed 460 raid points.

This raiding duo made sure Patna were crowned as Champions of Pro Kabaddi League season 5. Pardeep and Monu formed the best raiding partnership in the last season of PKL. But this raiding pair will no longer be seen together in the upcoming season. Pardeep will don Patna’s jersey and Monu will raid for Haryana.

5) Manjeet Chhillar – Ajay Thakur

Manjeet Chhillar and Ajay Thakur played together in first four seasons. In season 5 this pair was split. Ajay Thakur was signed by Tamil Thalaivas and Manjeet Chhillar switched to Jaipur Pink Panthers.

While in season 1 Bulls reached the semifinals with the raiding of Ajay Thakur and an all-round performance by Manjeet Chhillar, they were the runners-up in season 2. Both were signed by Puneri Paltan in season 3.

With the arrival of MANJAY (Manjeet Chhillar & Ajay Thakur) the Puneri Paltan team who stood at bottom of the table made it to the semifinals of season 3 and 4 and were placed at third position. Ajay and Manjeet will be seen playing for Tamil Thalaivas in this season.

With their Kabaddi expertise, tactics and experience this duo is expected to create the same magic they did in the initial season of PKL.
